The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update. Social Media Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Changes Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said. Platform Context The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
